Straphanger Joe will be performing two readings in our region in the next few days from his spectacular novel Open Wounds.
Straphanger Joe, aka Joseph Lunievicz, wrote dozens of posts about subway life for Trainjotting.
He’s having a book launch party at Seaburn Books in Astoria, tomorrow at 7 p.m.
And he’s reading at Voracious Reader in Larchmont Friday at 6 p.m., and also conducting a fencing demonstration. (Fencing, as in epees and Holden Caulfield, plays a large part in his book.)
We plan to be at the latter, buying an armful of books, while also contemplating whether or not Larchmont deserves its nomination for Crappiest Train Station in the Region because, as reader Gorgeous Francis, in all his rapier wit, puts it, “everyone who gets on or off there is from Larchmont.”
By attending one (or both) readings, you can then tell co-workers assembled around the water cooler on Monday that you attended a literary reading over the weekend, therefore looking smart and hip in their eyes.
