Engineer in Deadly L.A. Crash Was Going to Let Kid Drive

The driver involved in the fatal L.A. train crash in September reportedly had invited a young “railfan” to actually steer the train the night of the collision.

Driver Robert Sanchez had sent or received 43 text messages while on his shift, including one just seconds before the crash. Four days before the fateful day, he wrote:

I’m gonna do all the radio talkin’ … ur gonna run the locomotive & I’m gonna tell u how to do it,” Sanchez wrote in one text four days before the crash.”
