Camera Shy

This is when you need a camera.

There were six of them sitting in a row on the F train, one next to the other, shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip. Usually this wouldn’t be possible because the interior of the F trains, the old orange bombers, are usually filled with L-shaped banks of orange benches, three seats wide capped by two seats wide. But it was a converted E train with the long single banks on either side of the train, dark grey seats shining.

And there were six of them in a row, each asleep, each head tilted back and to one side or another, a pair close to kissing, mouths hanging open and closed. One woman’s fingers twitched slightly , wrapped around her pocketbook, firmly positioned on her lap.

Asleep, asleep, asleep.

If I only had a camera.
